Long since gone, but I've heard of one made by Gear Vendors. Problem with a C-3 is the driveshaft is so short there just is not much room lengthwise, and the tunnel is pretty small aft of the trans.

I doubt the 4L80E uses any more power than a TH400/GV combo. The Geare Vendor has an additional pump. The pumping losses of that probably negate or are worse than the OD section being in front of the main geartrain.
