10 posts · Joined 2009. #1 · Jan 29, 2012. My temp guage and scanguage show my coolant temp at 3/4 (102C (216F)) when my engine is off and hasn't ran in 24 hours (outside temp was 5C (41F)). The coolant temp even bounces around a bit, but mainly stays at 3/4. I can't even start my engine cause the mixture is off from the faulty sensor reading.The next step is to see if the engine temperature sensor is working correctly. If you have a scan tool with live data, check the engine temperature when the engine is cold, it should be close to outside temperature. Drive a car for 10 minutes and check the engine temperature again, it should be close to 180-220°F or 82-105°C. See the photo.Temp Gauge and Fan problems. Oil temp is also calculated in certain ranges on Camaros as there's a big difference between that and aftermarket after adding a big cooler.
